Jakarta, 24 April 2025 – The Singapore Chamber of Commerce Indonesia (SingCham), the premier business chamber representing the Singaporean business community in Indonesia, announced the launch of the ‘SingCham Uplifting Scholarship’.
Backed by Singapore-based companies with a strong presence in Indonesia, this initiative aims to provide financial aid, mentorship, and professional exposure to Indonesian undergraduates. SingCham has partnered with edu-tech startup Kinobi as the ‘Program Partner’ and is supported by corporate partners, including APRW, PT Bank UOB Indonesia, Titan Corporation, and Withersworldwide.
The scholarship is a unique opportunity designed for bright, aspiring students with a strong interest in ASEAN cooperation, particularly between Singapore and Indonesia. The eligibility requirements include:
- Being a 2nd or 3rd-year undergraduate
- No older than 23 years
- Enrolled in a university within the Jabodetabek area
- Maintains a minimum GPA of 3.00
- Demonstrates financial need and an interest in ASEAN cooperation
The top 8 finalists will receive a semester allowance of up to IDR 4,000,000, an opportunity to get a paid internship at a Singapore-based or Singaporean-led company in Jakarta, and exclusive mentorship during the Uplifting Summit 2025 – a one-day mentorship summit featuring Singaporean business leaders operating in Indonesia.
The SingCham Uplifting Scholarship nurtures future Indonesian leaders inspired by Singaporean excellence and innovation, fostering a deeper connection between the two nations through education and industry collaboration. It equips scholars with values of professional excellence to strengthen economic and cultural ties, with SingCham aiming to expand beyond eight participants next year for broader impact.
“As the leading business chamber representing the Singaporean business community in Indonesia, SingCham is committed to promoting collaboration and knowledge exchange between our two countries. This scholarship is a testament to our vision of driving long-term cooperation through education and industry engagement,” said Shoeb Kagda, Chairman, Singapore Chamber of Commerce Indonesia.
“UOB Indonesia believes in empowering young talents to reach their full potential. Our support for the SingCham Uplifting Scholarship Programme reflects our strong commitment to education, a key pillar of our CSR efforts. This initiative aligns with our broader focus on creating long-term, positive impact for children and youth across Indonesia. As part of a leading bank with deep roots in ASEAN, we are proud to contribute to meaningful partnerships that open doors to future leaders and nurture them to thrive in a dynamic, regional economy,” said Mrs Maya Rizano, Head of Strategic Communications and Brand, UOB Indonesia.
The Uplifting Summit 2025, held in Jakarta in July, brought together Singaporean business leaders, scholarship finalists, and corporate partners for mentorship and networking opportunities. The 8 scholarship recipients were announced from the top 30 finalists, with SingCham council members and sponsor representatives in attendance.
“We are proud to be the partner in administering the scholarship programme. Through the SingCham Uplifting Scholarship, we hope to benefit students, especially those in financial need. Recipients will not only receive financial assistance but also have the opportunity to build a career with international standards. We will also collaborate with our partner universities in JABODETABEK to share this valuable opportunity with students,” said Hafiz Kasman, President Director, PT Kinobi Technologies Indonesia (Kinobi).
